In the current Corona pandemic, tenants and landlords of business premises are asking themselves the question whether the rent is still owed in full or at best only to a reduced extent or whether the lease may even be terminated extraordinary. This legal update deals with the effects of the Corona pandemic on rental agreements.

Affected small and mid-size companies may apply for a bridge loan from their house bank or another bank from March 26, 2020 and thereby significantly increase their liquidity. With his inaugural lecture on «Organization and Liability in Stock Corporation Law» of 23 September 2019, our counsel PD Dr. iur. Damian A. Fischer, LL.M. (Stanford) formally completed his habilitation procedure at the University of Zurich. As a private lecturer (PD) UZH with teaching authority for «Private and Commercial Law» (since 2018), he has been teaching for several years at Bachelor and Master level at the University of Zurich and is active in legal research. We are delighted to have him as a proven business law expert in our firm.

A new RVP-Bulletin provides a systematic overview of the various institutions and products of the 2. and 3. Pillars. The Bulletin focuses on private insurance and asset management taking into consideration the revision of Swiss insurance supervisory law and the new FinSA and FinIA.

RUOSS VÖGELE publishes a new bulletin on improved protection against unjustified debt collection. On 1 January 2019, revised provisions of the Federal Law on Debt Collection and Bankruptcy entered into force, which enable debtors to have unjustified entries in the debt collection register deleted resp. withdrawn from the inspection rights of third parties in an uncomplicated and inexpensive procedure (available only in German).
